In the past few weeks, the working remote has taken on a whole new meaning. With companies needing to move their entire workforce to home offices, suddenly both my LinkedIn feed and inbox are filled with content aimed at how to help me work from home.

I recently did a quick Google search on “tools needed to work remote”. Several articles popped up telling me the top 10, top 25, (even top 50!) apps I should consider in order to be successful. For the most part, the apps listed provided a specific solution: video conferencing, team messaging, screen share, productivity tools, analytics – you name it.

I also came across a term new to me: “app fatigue”. The consensus among a large percentage of those of us working at home, apparently, is that we would rather do household chores, pay the bills, or clean out our inbox than spend time navigating between workplace apps. We are also growing weary of communicating on so many different platforms – not to mention being communicated to in so many different places (ding! ring!).
